COMMUNITY

“We are made for togetherness. We are made for all the beautiful things that you and I know. We are made to tell the world that there are no outsiders. All are welcome: black, white, red, yellow, rich, poor, educated, uneducated, male, female—all, all, all. We all belong to this family, this human family, God’s family.”

— Desmond Tutu

At the Winston-Salem Fellows, we believe community is at the heart of what it means to be human. It’s not just something we’re part of—it’s the foundation of who we are.

Here, we are intentionally building a culture of acceptance and affirmation, grounded in the values of authenticity, vulnerability, and unconditional love. The Fellows program is a place where you get to belong, not where you have to fit in.

Every week, we share meals, stories, laughter, and even tears. In three simple words, we do life together. Beyond our shared experiences, we also learn what it means to be part of a greater community—one that God is actively building.

THE FELLOWS HOUSE - where we live, learn and grow together.

Nestled on a 212-acre farm and residential community in the heart of Winston-Salem, the Fellows House offers more than just a place to stay—it’s a place to thrive.

In less than five minutes, you can walk to a city park, grab a burger, visit a brewery, or even pet a horse and a llama. It’s all part of the vibrant community that surrounds us.

Communal living

The Fellows House is a 20-bedroom former retreat center, now home to our Fellows and staff. It features:

  • An industrial kitchen where we cook and share meals

  • A dining room table large enough to fit 18—affectionately called "The Whale"

  • A class and conference room for learning and development

  • A “Play Room” where we gather to relax, play, and build memories

This is not just a house—it’s the heartbeat of the Fellows program, where we build lifelong friendships and support one another in our journey.
