Fellows House
Crossnore School & Children’s Home is a trauma-informed school and residential community dedicated to serving orphans and foster children. Located on one of the most redemptive pieces of land in America, it offers a place of healing, hope, and transformation.
The Children’s Home property, now part of Crossnore School & Children’s Home, boasts a rich history that dates back to 1909. Originally founded by the Methodist Church in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, it began as a self-sustaining orphanage set on a sprawling 212-acre campus. Over time, its mission evolved, shifting from traditional orphanage care to a broader focus on helping children and families in crisis. Today, the organization provides trauma treatment and residential care for foster children, empowering them to heal and thrive.
What Does Rooming Look Like?
Each Fellow is provided with a 13' x 13' private room, offering a comfortable space for rest and study. Fellows share a full bathroom with just one other Fellow. The facility includes two large laundry rooms, making everyday chores easy to manage.
A fully equipped kitchen and multiple common spaces are available for Fellows to gather, cook, and relax. While we believe in fostering a sense of community, we also encourage responsibility—everyone has chores! We take pride in being good neighbors by picking up after ourselves and keeping shared spaces clean and welcoming.
Best of All—We're Literally Downtown!
